Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education: 2006 Book of Standards

To prepare for the August 2006 publication of its 2006 Book of Standards, the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education is suspending sales of its 2003 Book of Standards, effective May 1.

The forthcoming fifth edition of the Book of Standards will be released Aug. 1, and will introduce guidelines and standards for five new areas. Those areas include college honor societies, education abroad programs, service-learning programs, internship programs, and college health programs. The 30 functional areas included in the 2003 Book of Standards will be included in the new edition, as well. Nine of those pre-existing areas have been revised for the 2006 edition.

In addition to the 2006 Book of Standards, CAS will publish the “Book of Frameworks for Assessing Learning and Development Outcomes,” available Aug. 1 as well. This publication will introduce 16 student learning domains and will provide methods for assessing progress in those domains.

The 2003 Book of Standards will continue to be available at www.bookstore.acui.org.
