2017 Student Organizations Institute

Core Competencies: Leadership, Planning, Student Learning
June 19 – June 22, 2017
University of Akron, Akron, Ohio

Program Description

If you are a student organization advisor—whether a new or seasoned professional—the Student Organizations Institute offers you opportunities to network with your peers from around the country. With a variety of engaging session formats, you will explore best and promising practices; learn strategies for risk management, advisor development, and student leadership development; and discover valuable resources to make your work easier. You will be challenged to work collaboratively with your peers, as you experience simulations based on real-life scenarios and as you cocreate programs and activities that can be implemented on your campus.

Learning Outcomes

This institute will balance traditional institute instruction style with small group breakout sessions and other networking opportunities.

Whether you have direct responsibilities in overseeing a student organization program or are involved with advising student group leaders, participants will interact with facilitators and other participants to learn about both general and specific topics related to the culture, structure, resources, tools, and techniques that will help them improve the management of student organizations and their activities on campus.

The Student Organizations Institute is presented in partnership by the Association of College Unions International; the Association of Student Conduct Administration; and the National Association for Campus Activities.

*You must be 18 years old or older to participate.
