Program Description

Color runs and paint parties are a popular event taking place on college campuses. Learn how to have a fun and safe event while keeping your campus beautiful and not damaging local water treatment facilities.

About the Presenter

William Tourville is the assistant director for student activities at Minnesota State University–Mankato.  He has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, and a master's in college counseling and student development from St. Cloud State University. He has been a member of ACUI since 2009. 

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this program, participants will know about:

  • How to successfully plan a color run
  • Appropriate cleaning procedures following a paint party or color run
  • What supplies are needed for a color run or paint party
  • How to easily plan an event on your own
  • Environmental impacts of the paint in water systems
  • State guidelines regarding the disposal of paint powder in storm drains 

As a result of attending this program, participants will be able to:

  • Win over campus administration to hold event
  • Successfully market a color run or paint party
  • Remove paint stains from concrete and grass
  • Hold a color run or paint party
