Program Description

As we look to find the most efficient way to multitask at work, there are many mobile and web applications that can provide assistance. We are interested in how technology can improve our productivity both at work and in everyday life. Technology is a definitely an area that ACUI and its members have shown interest in, and as mobile devices become more popular the use of applications will continue to increase.

This Technology Community of Practice session provides quick overviews of a variety of applications, all in just 30 minutes.

About the Presenters

Jeff Lail is the coordinator for programs in campus activities and programs at University of North Carolina–Greensboro. Jeff has been in the student activities and student union field for four years now. Being a chemistry major and host of a tech podcast, he's usually the numbers and tech geek in every room in student affairs, but he owns it.

Mike Coleman is the coordinator for student life and housing at CUNY–Brooklyn, overseeing campus life programming and residence life activities. He has a bachelor’s in psychology from Clark Atlanta University and a master’s and educational specialist in counseling and human systems from Florida State University. Mike has been heavily involved with ACUI and has a strong passion for technology and giving back to the Association.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of participating in this program, participants will know:

  • How mobile device and web applications can assist in the everyday routines of work life
  • Example applications that can be useful for college union and student activities professionals
