With the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment taking steps towards achieving climate neutrality, the higher education community is staged to play an active role in affecting change towards a more sustainable future. Students, staff, and faculty alike have the power to implement new initiatives on their campus.

STARS is a voluntary, self-reporting framework for gauging relative progress toward sustainability for colleges and universities. In this session, attendees will learn how college union professionals can contribute to the development of STARS and how they can use the tool to measure and catalyze sustainability initiatives. Presenter Laura Matson will share this information based on her experiences with the tool as the STARS Program Associate from AASHE.
