Education and Research Fund Program Team member

ACUI Education and Research Fund Chair
Central Office staff liaison:
Events and Operations Manager
Term of Office/Renewal: Program team members will serve a two year term beginning June 1. At the end of the term, volunteer may reapply for a second term; no person can serve on the team more than two consecutive terms.


  •  On behalf of ACUI, raise monies for two distinct areas:
    • The ACUI Annual Fund, which supports general scholarships and Association research initiatives.
    • The ACUI individual endowed funds, which endow specific scholarship named in honor of significant Association members and events.
  • Create a culture of giving within the Association.
  • Serve on two subcommittees of the ERF Program Team:
    • Annual Fund: Coordinate and implement an Annual Fund campaign.
    • Endowed Funds: Develop and manage giving campaigns to reach appropriate levels in each endowed fund.
    • Conference events: Plan and implement ERF fundraising events at the ACUI annual conference including, but not limited to, a silent auction and run/walk event.
    • Communications: Implement ERF communication efforts, including the website content and the ERF newsletter.
  • Perform team responsibilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Actively participate in scheduled program team meetings, including monthly conference calls and a face-to-face meeting at the annual conference.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in proprietary ERF business, particularly in the identity of donors and amounts donated. 


  • Previous experience in an ACUI leadership role, either regionally or internationally.
  • Demonstrated performance in organization, leadership, motivation, communication, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness and multiculturalism.
  • Knowledge of the Association’s education council areas and core competencies.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse needs and priorities of the Association's membership and the profession.
  • Full-time employment in a college union/student activities department at a member institution; solid institutional support and job stability.
  • Lifetime personal contributions to the Education and Research Fund with value of at least $100.

Selection Process:

Consistent with the selection process for ACUI volunteer positions, a screening committee of volunteers and the staff liaison will review applications, interview qualified candidates, and make a recommendation for appointment.
