Join the I-LEAD® Facilitation Team

The Institute for Leadership Education and Development (I-LEAD®) promotes the personal growth and skill development of college students, and a vital part of the program are the members of the facilitation team who help to make it all happen. These short-term volunteer opportunities are some of the most intense and unique that ACUI offers, but they can also be some of the most impactful and rejuvenating.

The 2017 I-LEAD® program will be held at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS on July 23-28, 2017 and facilitators would be expected to arrive for on-site training starting on July 20-22, 2017. There will also be an additional session being held at the University of Massachusetts - Lowell on June 4-9, 2017 with on-site training starting on June 1-3.

Small Group Facilitator

As a facilitator for ACUI’s premier student program, you will be paired and work intensely with a small group of 10–15 students, while also being an active participant throughout all institute activities. Any professional employed at an institution of higher education is eligible to apply, while those working in the college unions and student activities field at ACUI member institutions will be given special consideration. Student Intern

As an intern for I-LEAD®, you will work closely with the lead facilitators to prepare for program activities and assist in the presentation of select sessions. Graduate students studying student affairs and undergraduate students who are past I-LEAD® participants are eligible to apply. View the full position description here. Deadline is April 21.

Co-Lead Facilitator

As a co-lead facilitator for I-LEAD®, you will be paired with a program lead facilitator to help facilitate large group sessions of 60+ students, while also supporting the small group facilitators in your large group. Any professional who has had at least 1 year of experience as a small group facilitator and employed at an institution of higher education is eligible to apply. Those working in the college unions and student activities field at an ACUI member institutions will be given special consideration. 

We are no longer accepting applications for the Co-Lead Facilitator position for 2017. 

Applications for the 2017 Small Group Facilitator and Student Intern

Below is the general process for the online facilitation team applications. To apply:

  • Follow the link above to the appropriate application
  • Complete the form, which includes:
    • Profile and contact information
    • A series of six short answer questions
    • Confirmation of availability
    • Resume (Including a list of relevant volunteer experiences with ACUI or other professional organizations, a list of presentations you have done in the past three years on topics related to personal effectiveness, growth, and leadership.)
    • Professional References (Three references, including their contact information and relationship to you.)                           

A selection committee made up of ACUI volunteers and staff members will review the application materials, conduct phone interviews with candidates as needed, and confirm selections by mid-May to allow time for planning.

More about the I-LEAD® facilitation team positions:

  • Facilitation team members must participate in an on-site, two-day training program before the institute (June 1-3, 2017, July 20 - 22, 2017)
  • In addition to on-site training, facilitation team members will be asked to attend additional online training prior to arriving on-site.
  • Facilitation team members must be in residence on site for the full duration of the program 
  • All travel expenses for facilitation team members are arranged and paid for by ACUI
  • All meals and lodging during facilitation team training and the program are provided by ACUI
  • If student enrollment is low, ACUI reserves the right to cancel the session as necessary
