Silent Auction Guidelines

ACUI Region II is sponsoring a silent auction this year at the regional conference, Nov. 4–6 at the University of Houston. The auction is now live! Visit this link to register your items before the conference.

As a new emphasis this year, we would like to showcase the many talents of our Region II membership through an art component to the silent auction. Please consider donating your own works of art, which can include, but is not limited to:

  • Drawings
  • Watercolors
  • Photography
  • Hand-made jewelry
  • Knitting/crocheting
Donated items, outside of art items, must be in new or unused condition. New or unused items should include original tags and/or packaging. Autographed apparel or memorabilia are an exception. Worn, soiled, or damaged items will not be accepted.

It is recommended that the minimum donation value of items be $40.

Examples of successful items include:

  • Baskets that feature a variety of items from a specific part of the country/region (food samplers, souvenir items, etc.)
  • Baskets featuring items from a member institution
  • Gift certificates for travel, entertainment, spa services, or restaurants
  • Sporting equipment
  • Sports/entertainment memorabilia
  • Electronics (tablets, mobile music devices, etc.)

Please consider asking local businesses if they are able to donate items for the auction. If you need a letter to aid in soliciting donations, contact Kellie Mandry at

A brief, detailed description should be included with each item donated. Information should include color(s), dimensions, material, size (for clothing/apparel items), and retail value.

You may drop off items at conference registration. Donated items must be received at least one hour prior to the start of bidding.

All donated items become the property of the Education and Research Fund. Any items not receiving bids during the silent auction at the annual conference may be included in future Education and Research Fund auctions or disposed of at the discretion of the Education and Research Fund.

Donated items should be appropriate for a professional association event and should be in line with ACUI's core values. The Education and Research Fund may decline an item if it does not meet these standards.

For questions regarding the Silent Auction, please contact Kellie Mandry at
