Be Part of the Celebration

There will be no other celebration like the gathering of the ACUI membership in Orlando next year. Special moments await you,
your staff, and VIPs from your campus. Noteworthy highlights of the upcoming conference include:

  • The Host Hotel: The JW Marriott Orlando Grand Lakes will be the host for the conference, with the entire celebration taking place under one roof. Hotel reservations are available now through the conference website. Arrive early and stay late to enjoy the endless amenities of the property, the abundance of activity available in Orlando, or the opportunity to relax.
  • Conference Rates: Vouchers are available online until the conference registration goes live. Conference registration will include access to more than 100 educational sessions in varying presentation styles, a ticket to the opening night gala, access to the museum, all keynotes and general sessions, the closing banquet, lunch, and exhibit hall interactions.
  • Community Service: All members will be encouraged to take the “Change the World in 100 Hours” pledge in honor of ACUI’s centennial. In Orlando, delegates will experience a conference-wide opportunity to kick off this promise. Along with this educational endeavor, several smaller service projects will be available throughout the conference.
  • Museum: Displays of rich ACUI history will be available to delegates in a museum created at the hotel. Page through the minutes from the first meeting of our founders. View the evolution of both the Association’s logo and The Bulletin over time. Listen to ACUI legends who will be holding fireside chats in the museum. Learn all about the history of ACUI and help create our next 100 years through this once-in-a-lifetime showcase of memorabilia.
  • Opening Night Centennial Gala: ACUI will kick off its centennial celebration on Sunday, April 6, 2014 with the Centennial Gala. Celebrate 100 years of college unions, student activities, and the people who have helped make ACUI one of the strongest and oldest associations in higher education. Featuring food, honors, and entertainment, this wonder-filled program will commemorate the past and toast to the future of ACUI.
  • Exciting and Innovative Keynotes: Keynote speakers will engage and inspire conference attendees to not only celebrate ACUI’s rich history, but create a blueprint for the Association’s future and the profession on our campuses. In addition to traditional keynotes and the return of ACUI Talks (short, Ted-style presentations in one general session), a panel of campus leaders will respond to your questions about the future of college unions and higher education.
  • Conference Education: A record 325 educational session proposals are being juried to determine which will be selected as the 120 flash sessions, technology tutorials, traditional educational sessions, and more. In addition, a computer lab will be created for demonstrations and hands-on learning, a larger room with a stage for featured educational programs, and designated lounge spaces to accommodate other kinds of learning.
  • Networking and Other Programs: There will be something for everyone at the annual conference! The Student Network will introduce both undergraduate and graduate students to ACUI and the annual conference through a welcome at the beginning and activities throughout. Conference newcomers will have their own kick-off, a special tour of the ACUI Expo, and daily check-ins with conference veterans and other newcomers. Senior managers will also be able to network and learn while visiting local campuses.
  • Featured Skill Sets: A series of educational opportunities are planned around two critical skill sets for the profession: Supervision and Healthy Lifestyles. Educational sessions and programs will help supervisors enhance their skills in areas like accountability, motivation, and hiring best practices. In addition, the unique location of this year’s program has inspired an entire wellness program that will run throughout the conference. Elements will include yoga classes, the FUNd Run/Walk, group exercise, and sessions on spiritual and financial health.
