Data collection open for ACUI’s benchmarking database

ACUI is now accepting updated data for the 2010–11 academic year. Since 2003, ACUInfo has allowed college union and student activities professionals to benchmark their activities against data from other institutions. ACUInfo enables members to make decisions based on data rather than anecdotal information, and it can provide general as well as specific and detailed information about what other institutions are doing.

Thanks to StudentVoice, ACUInfo received a much-needed facelift in 2010. Previous reporting methods were slow and difficult to navigate. Using the new reporting tools, institutions can save reports, easily benchmark against many peer categories, and cross tabulate questions against each other.

If an institution has never participated in ACUInfo before, it will take some time to complete the questionnaire. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible, while maintaining the richness of the data members have requested. There are nine sections of questions in ACUInfo:

  • Section 1: General Information
  • Section 2: Facilities
  • Section 3: Programming
  • Section 4: Human Resources
  • Section 5: Technology
  • Section 6: Assessment
  • Section 7: General Financial
  • Section 8: Optional Financial
  • Section 9: Best Practices

Questions for each section can be printed ahead of time so that answers can be researched by different individual “experts” on your staff. Once the data are collected, one person can then enter an institution’s compiled responses. Once an institution has entered its data into ACUInfo, only the questions with new responses will need to be updated in future years.
