Randolph Hare

APPA President Randolph Hare is director of maintenance and operations at Washington & Lee University. Hare is APPA's first African-American president and has been actively engaged in the organization for 25 years. He has served in various leadership and research positions, including helping to develop and evaluate the Facilities Performance Indicators survey and report. In this general session, Hare will discuss how to use standards and data-driven practices to improve facilities.

Hare is certified in HVAC Mechanical Systems and earned an Electrical Systems Certificate from North Carolina State University as well as certification from the Professional Construction Estimators Association and the Association for Facilities Engineering. In his role at Washington & Lee, he has advanced not only facilities and strategic planning efforts but also campus life, serving on a presidential search committee, university safety and public functions committees, and the Task Force on Women.
