Many student affairs practitioners view assessment as big, scary, and time consuming. In two years, SUNY – Brockport has built the foundation for and began to develop a culture of assessment. This session details the foundation, process, challenges, and successes.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify elements that contribute to the development and maintenance of a collaborative “culture of assessment.”
  • Describe a model for “mapping” student learning within individual departments and throughout a division, including the development of a divisional assessment team.
  • Describe the cycle of assessment and how results are used to enhance student learning and development.
