Vertical Community: DePaul Loop Campus and Roosevelt University
Tuesday, March 1, 12:45–3:30 p.m.
 

This tour will depart from the Conference Concierge, Level 5. We will depart as quickly as possible following the James Fowler keynote. We will be using the L to get to both schools, so please dress appropriately. Katie Tyler from the Chicago Conference Program Team will accompany the tour. This tour will demonstrate how two universities promote community and student learning in the sky-scrapers that the schools occupy.  

About DePaul: The Student Center at the DePaul Loop Campus is located in the DePaul Center, a historic building that housed Goldblatt's flagship department store for more than 30 years. DePaul Center features modern classrooms, high-tech student services, a general library, and a Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Upon arrival, registrants will be guided to elevators and up to the Student Involvement Center for a 30-minute tour by Joe Mroczkowski, director.

About Roosevelt: Chartered in 1945, and dedicated to principles of social justice, Roosevelt University occupies the Auditorium Building, the architectural masterpiece of architects Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan that was declared a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1975 and a Chicago Landmark by the Chicago City Council in 1976. Roosevelt is constructing a 32-story skyscraper, the second tallest academic building in the U.S., adjacent to the Auditorium Building that will have classrooms, laboratories, a union, and housing for 600 students.

Upon arrival, registrants will be guided to elevators and provided with a tour of the historically significant facility and given overview of Roosevelt’s plans for expansion. Eric Tammes, Roosevelt University, assistant vice president for student services, will give the 45-minute tour.
