StrengthsQuest, Gallup's strengths development program for college-age students, gives people the opportunity to develop strengths by building on their greatest talents—the way in which they most naturally think, feel, and behave as unique individuals. Grounded in Positive Psychology and the Clifton StrengthsFinder, StrengthsQuest has helped more than 500,000 students, staff, and faculty members on 600 campuses achieve academic, career, and personal success. Through strengths-based development, college leaders can grow and develop as effective teachers, models, mentors, and fellow travelers on a student's journey through college. Student development—and the campus as a whole—is strongest when college faculty, staff, and administrators use their talents and strengths to create a community that fosters strengths-based development.

This eight-hour preconference workshop will be facilitated by two Gallup StrengthsQuest trainers and will cover:

  • Introduction to StrengthsQuest and StrengthsFinder tool
  • Exploration of individual strengths
  • Implementation of StrengthsQuest into your student worker training
  • Implementation of StrengthsQuest into your leadership training
  • How to implement strengths-based leadership into your college union and campus activities office

Speaker and assessments provided by Gallup.

Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One born with emerald green skin is smart, fiery, and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious, and very popular. Their story is told in this amazing Broadway production. This pre-conference workshop will allow participants to “explore” behind the emerald curtain by attending the “Behind the Emerald Curtain” exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Wicked run by cast members from the production, having lunch at The Palm with the Wicked company manager and a cast member, and learning specifically about bringing a Broadway show to a college union. Following lunch, participants will attend the matinée show of Wicked. After the show, participants will discuss how Wicked is connected to the ACUI's core competencies and its relevance to our work on campuses. This is an experience not to be missed.
