ACUI introduces new resources for National Student Employment Week
April 12, 2009

BLOOMINGTON — College unions often employ more students than any other campus department, so ACUI has developed a cadre of resources to assist student employee supervisors just in time for National Student Employment Week, April 12–19, 2009.

The resources recently made available to members include:

  • A two-part webinar series on student employment. Part 2 will occur April 29 and is titled: Getting the Greatest Bang for Your Buck: Maximizing Your Student Employment Program.
  • A Student Employee Supervisors Community of Practice, which features a document exchange, discussion board, and blog for members to address common challenges related to their work on campus.
  • ACUI’s new book written for scholar-practitioners working in various on-campus settings that shares models, administrative best practices, and assessment approaches for learning-based employment programs.
  • Winning program materials developed by this year’s Excellence in Student Training Programs Award recipient, Bowling Green State University.
  • Materials gathered from ACUI annual conference presentations, including six that focused specifically on aspects of student employment programs.
In the coming months, ACUI will introduce sample student employee job descriptions that include learning outcomes and additions to its collection of literature linking student employment to college achievement.

Founded in 1914, ACUI is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools in seven countries. Its members work on urban and rural campuses, in two-year and four-year institutions, and at large and small schools. They are students and administrators whose mission is to build campus community. ACUI enriches them all through education, advocacy, and the delivery of services.
