Celebrity "Shout-Outs" for the 100th Anniversary

ACUI wants celebrities to send anniversary greetings, well wishes, and salutations that ACUI can feature through various media and during our face-to-face programs. We're looking for actors, comedians, government officials, prominent literary figures, athletes, and any other celebrities who might be visiting your campus or with whom you have a relationship.

You can send the video clip on disc to Anniversary Video, One City Centre, Suite 200, 120 W. Seventh St., Bloomington, IN 47404 or share it with ACUI's Dropbox, acui@acui.org. Please do not upload it to YouTube or send it as an email attachment.

Please direct any questions to acui@acui.org.

  •  Make sure they say the full name of the Association or spell our acronym A-C-U-I
  •  Do not feel the need to use these phrases verbatim, but ideally we want something along the lines of
    • "Congratulations on your 100th anniversary, ACUI!"
    • "I want to wish the Association of College Unions International the best during your centennial celebration!"
    • "Cheers to you, ACUI, on being one of the oldest higher education associations!"
    •  "I'm [NAME], and as you look past 2014, I want to wish ACUI 100 more years of success!"
  • Use caution before asking the celebrity to perform any songs, as we might not have rights to rebroadcast the performance. "Happy Birthday" is probably OK.
  •  If the person is known for a certain phrase or expression, feel free to ask them to include it somehow.
  •  If they went to college, ask them to name their alma mater and share one of the following:
    •  A leadership experience they had in college
    •  An event they recall attending in college
    •  A memory of the college union
  • If you're including a group of people, please make sure that the sound picks up from anyone talking and that they are clearly visible in the shot.

About the Association of College Unions International

Founded in December 1914, ACUI is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools in six countries. Its members work on urban and rural campuses, in two-year and four-year institutions, and at large and small schools. They are students and administrators whose mission is to build campus community. ACUI enriches them all through education, advocacy, and the delivery of services.

Our 100th anniversary will be a yearlong celebration, featuring our history from the organization's establishment by a group of students from Midwestern universities in 1914 to the hundreds of students and professionals who will gather in Orlando in 2014.
